Italian Stuffed Turkey Burgers Recipe

Stuffing burgers is not only fun and easy, but also results in a flavor you can't get by simply topping your burger with ingredients. The flavors infuse the meat, and each bite is tender and tasteful. This recipe brings Italian ingredients together with the richness of the roasted jalapeno. Delicious.
Ingredients
- 2 jalapeno peppers, roasted and chopped - See instructions on how to roast chili peppers
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 2 ounces fresh basil, chopped
- 1 large tomato
- 1/4 cup Romano cheese, grated
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 pinch salt
- Black pepper to taste
- Dash of olive oil
- Buns to serve
Cooking Directions
- Slice a small "X" into the bottom of the tomato and boil for 2 minutes.
- Remove and cool slightly. Peel the skin from the tomato.
- Chop the tomato and add to a mixing bowl.
- To the mixing bowl, add chopped basil, chopped jalapeno peppers, Romano cheese, salt and pepper to taste.
- Heat a skillet to medium heat. Add garlic with a dash of olive oil. Cook about 5 minutes, or until the garlic begins to brown.
- Add garlic to mixing bowl and mix all ingredients.
- Form the ground turkey into four 4-ounce patties.
- Divide the Italian mixture between 2 of the patties and close them up with the remaining patties. Essentially, you are enclosing the Italian mixture between the burger patties. Be sure to close the edges of the meat together so the contents don't drip out.
- Heat a grill to medium heat and grill the burgers about 12 minutes, or until the turkey is cooked through thoroughly.
- Serve on toasted buns!
