We wanted a unique and interesting topping for a simple burger dinner, so we whipped up a new slaw that focuses on the heat-level-perfect jalapeno pepper and something you might not quite expect - rutabaga! Introduce some sweet apple and you have yourself a trifect of flavor. It's great for a sidedish or as a topping for burgers or sandwiches, as we've done.
Ingredients
1 jalapeno pepper, diced
4-6 ounces fresh rutabaga, peeled
1 medium sized apple
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, coarsely chopped
1 teaspoon spicy chili powder
Cooking Directions
Thinly shred the rutabaga into a large mixing bowl through a grater.
Do the same with the apple, skin included. Discard the core and the stem.
