Spicy Baked Rutabaga Fries

If you're looking for an alternative to potatos as your side dish, look no further than rutabaga. Rutabaga is another root vegetable with the consistency somewhere between that of a raw potato and an apple. The taste is somewhat sweeter than a potato, but it cooks up in similar ways. These baked rutabaga fries are delicious with the proper seasoning mixture.
Ingredients
- 1 medium sized rutabaga
- 2 tablespoons red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons dried Parmesan cheese
- 2-3 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt to taste
Cooking Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Peel the rutabaga and chop it into short rectangles about the size of your pinky finger. Try to keep them as uniform in size as possible.
- Spread out rutabaga onto a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.
- Sprinkle red pepper flakes, garlic powder and dried Parmesan cheese over rutabaga.
- Bake at 350 degrees about 40 minutes, or until they are nice and soft, to your preference.
- Salt to taste and serve!
