No worries with this recipe!

This Avocado Dip is so easy, you can add it to your menu and it will barely affect your timeline. Most of the time needed will be taken up roasting your chili peppers, which is completely optional. The rest is spent adding ingredients to a food processor and pressing the button, maybe mashing avocados.

Avocado-White Bean Dip – Recipe

The Secret to a Great Avocado Dip: White Beans

White Beans are the secret ingredient to making the best avocado dip. Many recipes call for sour cream or even cream cheese for that cream factor, but white beans are so much thicker than sour cream, and not so calorie laden as cream cheese. The white beans, when processed, form an extra thick and smooth texture.

Combined with the perfectly ripe avocados and the rest of the ingredients, what you have is the perfect avocado dip. I may as well call this recipe “Avocado-White Bean Dip”.

It looks a lot like a super creamy guacamole recipe, doesn’t it? Speaking of, if you’re looking for Guacamole Recipes, there you go.

I’m categorizing this particular recipe as a guacamole as well, but in reality, it’s different enough. It’s sort of a mash up of a bean dip recipe and a guacamole recipe, an ideal dipper, a party lovers flavor blast.

Leave it out on the table and go about your business. Watch it disappear.

Let’s talk about how we make this wonderful creamy avocado dip, shall we?

Avocado Dip Ingredients

  • 1 avocado peeled and chopped
  • 1 can (14 ounces) Great Northern Beans or White Cannellini Beans, drained – use your favorite white beans
  • 1 roasted jalapeno pepper, peeled and chopped
  • 1 roasted serrano pepper, peeled and chopped (optional for extra spicy)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
  • Juice from 1 small lime
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha or favorite hot sauce

How to Make Avocado Dip – the Recipe Method

  1. Add all ingredients to a food processor and process until smooth.
  2. Adjust for salt and additional seasonings to taste.
  3. Serve with warmed tortilla chips or pita bread.

Boom! Extra thick and creamy avocado dip is ready to enjoy! Easy recipe, right? I love easy.

Recipe Tips & Notes

As mentioned, the only cooking involved is roasting a couple chili peppers. I included both a serrano and jalapeno pepper, though if you feel serranos are too spicy, go for one or two jalapenos instead.

Of course you can omit them, but we personally prefer the flavor and spice. Plus, my #JalapenoObsession has been well documented.

Roasting Chili Peppers is as simple as setting the peppers over a gas flame and charring up the skins until they blacken, which can be peeled off. If you don’t have a gas stove, slice them in half and lay them on a baking sheet, skin sides up, then either bake or broil them until the skins char and bubble up.

Broiling is faster, but be careful not to get too close to the heat source.

See How to Roast Chili Peppers for guidance.

Alternatively, you can slice them up and just cook them down a bit in a pan with a splash of oil. You won’t get that smoky roasted flavor, but you’ll still get your spicy food love, which, you know, WE LOVE!

Did I mention how CREAMY this dip is? You know I did! I can’t say enough about it.

Seriously, toss this into a bowl and surround it with corn chips. It will not last long. Believe me. Bring it to your next gathering, the one you are NOT hosting, and watch the host grow jealous.

“Why didn’t I make that?” Tell them Mike from Chili Pepper Madness sent you.
