Happy Thirsty Thirteenth! Patty here. Since St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, or as I like to say, St. Patty’s Day (Cuz it’s my day. Ha!) I figured I’d go with a green drink. For me there is no better way to add green than with Midori. Melon flavored drinks are a bit odd for me because I've never been a huge fan of melons. All of them. You might find me eating a bit of watermelon on a humid,100 degree day when I’m outside, but who wouldn’t then? However, I love melon flavored drinks. I’m sure everyone has their weird thing like that. I love eating bananas but have never enjoyed any drink that is flavored with banana. Weird.
My absolute go to vodka is Absolut. Ha, now that’s sounds silly, but totally true. One of the reasons is that Absolut vodka actually smells good. All of the flavors smell like the fruit, not like alcohol. And when we taste, our sense of smell is a huge factor, so I go with something that smells delicious. This particular pairing of melon, pear and lemon is nice and fresh.
Oh and I better talk about the Fresca. A lot of people laugh that my go-to mixer is Fresca. Well, the laughing stops once they taste my drinks. It pairs so well with so many different flavors and there is something about that hint of grapefruit flavor in it that makes it so much better than other lemon-lime sodas.
I hope you enjoy your green drink and your St. Patty’s day. This is a lot more fun than putting food coloring into your beer.
Mike's Perspective: I'm a beer drinker and don't deviate much from that when it comes to alcohol, but when I do, it is usually something tart and fruity. I like this one. I can see myself sipping this in a tiny tiki hut, oceanside, staring at the gorgeous blue water. Bring it! But sorry, Patty, green beer is fun, too.
