There are a number of different ways to make jalapeno poppers, including baking, frying, grilling, wrapping them in bacon, so much more. Here are a few different jalapeno popper cooking methods you might want to explore.

Grilled Jalapeno Poppers Recipes and Tips

Grilled jalapeno poppers are great because you can experiment with smoky flavors, cook outdoors, and get your bacon nice and crispy if you are wrapping your jalapeno poppers in bacon. One way to grill your jalapeno poppers is to wrap them in aluminum foil and grill about 20-30 minutes, or until everything is nice and crispy. If you are breading your poppers, you can set them over aluminum foil or a grilling sheet, cover, and grill about 20-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

When wrapping your jalapeno poppers in bacon, you can grill them directly over a lightly oiled grill rack, but be careful for your stuffings, as they may fall out.

I often use a jalapeno griller when grilling my poppers. A good jalapeno griller will help your jalapeno poppers stand up in the grill so they don’t tilt over and spill.

Baked Jalapeno Poppers Recipes and Tips

Baked jalapeno poppers are a snap and easy to make because you can hang out in your kitchen and prepare other foods while they are baking. Stuff your poppers with just about anything you can think of, bread them as you wish, or serve them up boat style. Place them on a slightly oiled baking dish and bake them 20-30 minutes. It is truly that easy.

One of the great things about baked jalapeno poppers is that you can stuff them with just about anything and they’ll be delicious. Within reason, of course. You don’t have to limit yourself to cream cheese (which is absolutely delectable). Let your creative mind wander. That’s exactly what we did when devising our recipes for the Jalapeno Poppers cookbook. You are only limited by your imagination. You can also wrap them in bacon, but if doing this, I recommend setting your oven to broil in order to get the bacon nice and crispy.

I often use a jalapeno griller when baking my poppers. A good jalapeno griller will help your jalapeno poppers stand up in the oven so they don’t tilt over and spill.

Fried Jalapeno Poppers Recipes and Tips

Frying jalapeno poppers in oil is the fastest way to prepareyour poppers, and the results are stunningly delicious. This is typically what you will get when ordering jalapeno poppers in restaurants – something from a bag that is tossed into a deep fryer. Making them at home is so much better. Frying gives the breading a golden brown color and gets the stuffing nice and gooey. There are two ways to fry up your poppers:

  • With a Deep Fryer
  • In a Deep Pan

Fried Jalapeno Poppers

With a deep fryer, submerge the jalapeno poppers in the oil about 5 minutes. Remove and drain, then allow to cool a bit.

Frying your poppers in a pan with oil is slightly different because the oil can splatter. Just be careful to heat the oil slowly. In a deep pan, add enough oil to cover about half of the peppers. Heat the oil slowly to medium heat until the oil begins to bubble slightly. A simple test to see if your oil is ready is to drop a single drop of water into the hot oil. The water will sizzle up.

When the oil is ready, add the jalapeno poppers and cook on one side about 3-4 minutes, or until the breading is nice and brown. Flip the poppers and cook the other side about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown. NOTE: Be sure to use a lid, as the oil can splatter and make quite a mess. Heated oil droplets can splatter pretty far and can burn the skin.
