Ingredients

  • 1 fully cooked bone-in spiral ham 8-10 pounds
  • 1 cup chicken stock or use water

HOT HONEY GLAZE

  • 1 cup hot honey
  • 4 tablespoons butter 1/2 stick
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon mustard use hot mustard or Creole mustard
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • First, heat your oven to 325 degrees F. Place the ham into a lightly oiled roasting pan, cut side down.
  • Bake the ham for 90 minutes, uncovered.
  • While the ham is baking, make the hot honey glaze. Add the honey, butter, brown sugar, mustard, garlic powder, and salt and pepper to a small pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • After 90 minutes, brush the ham with half of the glaze. Add 1 cup chicken stock or water to the bottom of the baking pan (keeps the ham moist). Continue to bake another 30 minutes, adding a bit more glaze a few times during the final cooking, until the internal temperature of the ham measures 140 degrees F when measured with a meat thermometer.
  • Remove the ham and cool it slightly. Carve and finish with any remaining glaze just before serving.
