- 1 fully cooked bone-in spiral ham 8-10 pounds
- 1 cup chicken stock or use water
HOT HONEY GLAZE
- 1 cup hot honey
- 4 tablespoons butter 1/2 stick
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoon mustard use hot mustard or Creole mustard
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
First, heat your oven to 325 degrees F. Place the ham into a lightly oiled roasting pan, cut side down.
Bake the ham for 90 minutes, uncovered.
While the ham is baking, make the hot honey glaze. Add the honey, butter, brown sugar, mustard, garlic powder, and salt and pepper to a small pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
After 90 minutes, brush the ham with half of the glaze. Add 1 cup chicken stock or water to the bottom of the baking pan (keeps the ham moist). Continue to bake another 30 minutes, adding a bit more glaze a few times during the final cooking, until the internal temperature of the ham measures 140 degrees F when measured with a meat thermometer.
Remove the ham and cool it slightly. Carve and finish with any remaining glaze just before serving.
