- 1/2 cup crema or sour cream
- 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish or use grated fresh horseradish
- 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard or use Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Whisk together the crema or sour cream, horseradish, mustard, vinegar and salt and pepper together in a mixing bowl.
Taste and adjust for salt and pepper.
Serve as desired.
Other Ingredients. Customize with mayonnaise, lemon juice, heavy cream, chopped chives, or other fresh herbs.
Heat Level. Add more prepared horseradish for extra zing, a pinch of cayenne for dry heat, or a splash of your favorite hot sauce to really turn it up.
Fresh vs. Prepared Horseradish. Both work great. Fresh root gives more pronounced flavor but needs a day in the fridge to fully develop. Prepared horseradish is faster and still delivers.
Serving Suggestions. Excellent with prime rib, seared steak, beef tenderloin, or a roast beef sandwich.
