Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup crema or sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish or use grated fresh horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard or use Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Whisk together the crema or sour cream, horseradish, mustard, vinegar and salt and pepper together in a mixing bowl.
  • Taste and adjust for salt and pepper.
  • Serve as desired.

Notes

Other Ingredients. Customize with mayonnaise, lemon juice, heavy cream, chopped chives, or other fresh herbs.
Heat Level. Add more prepared horseradish for extra zing, a pinch of cayenne for dry heat, or a splash of your favorite hot sauce to really turn it up.
Fresh vs. Prepared Horseradish. Both work great. Fresh root gives more pronounced flavor but needs a day in the fridge to fully develop. Prepared horseradish is faster and still delivers.
Serving Suggestions. Excellent with prime rib, seared steak, beef tenderloin, or a roast beef sandwich.
