The best street tacos recipe with the juiciest smoked pulled pork served on warmed corn tortillas, topped with onion, cilantro, and crispy fried habanero peppers.

Pulled Pork Street Tacos - Recipe

You want to hear two of the best words in the English language when used together? “Street Tacos”. Want to hear an even better phrase? How about…

Pork Street Tacos.

YES!

I’ve been playing around with my favorite juicy smoked pulled pork recipe, and lucky for me, I’m also working with Don Chilio®, and we’re topping these awesome Smoked Pork Street Tacos with Don Chilio’s Fried Habanero Peppers for an awesome kick of spice and flavor.

Oh baby! Excited!

Don Chilio Chile Crisp Habanero

About Don Chilio®

Don Chilio® is a Mexican artisan food company that offers a selection of flavorful chili peppers fried in seasoned olive oil. The peppers are jarred and ready for easy cooking.

They currently offer Jalapeno Crisp, Serrano Crisp, and Habanero Crisp, and I can tell you, each of them has fantastic flavor.

I had the pleasure of trying all of them, and unfortunately for me, they’re all gone!

Foods like these do not last long in my house!

Don Chilio Chile Crisp

I can’t help myself when it’s that good.

The peppers are perfectly fried and packed in oil, and they’re still nice and crispy and retain that original chili pepper flavor.

And heat! You’ll definitely get a nice level of heat with them.

Serve them on just about anything, like over sandwiches or salads, spooned over grilled meats or any fish, over eggs, as your new favorite condiment.

They’re awesome with cheese. Go crazy, though also consider them for cooking into your foods for heat and flavor, not just as a topping.

And don’t forget the oil! The seasoned olive oil is packed with flavor. Drizzle it over salads or proteins like you would any chili oil.

Pop it into your drinks. Blood Mary, anyone?

Check out Don Chilio and learn where you can find their products here: http://www.donchilio.com.

So many ideas.

Especially over these awesome, and easy, pork street tacos.

What Exactly are Street Tacos, Anyway?

A Mexican street taco, really, is more of a traditional Mexican taco, served on a warmed soft corn tortilla, with either pork, beef or chicken.

You'll see them prepared with grilled chicken, flank steak, skirt steak, or other meats.

The toppings are simple, what’s known around me as “Cantina Style”, with onions and cilantro, maybe a bit of salsa or a sauce.

I’m serving mine with Don Chilio Fried Habanero peppers, and yep!

They’re awesome.

Pulled Pork Street Tacos with Don Chilio Habanero

Let’s talk about how to make pork street tacos, shall we?

How to Make Pork Street Tacos – The Recipe Method

Portion out your prepared pork shoulder based on the number of people you are serving. Figure 2 ounces of shredded pork per person.

Heat a pan to medium heat and add in a bit of olive oil.

Add the shredded pork, along with your ancho powder, garlic powder, cumin and a bit of salt. You can also use your favorite taco seasoning blend. Give it a nice stir to incorporate the seasonings.

Let the pork fry lightly a few minutes, until it becomes slightly crispy on the bottom. Remove it from the heat.

Warm some corn tortillas either in a hot pan with a touch of oil, or directly over flames for a nice char.

Serve the seasoned pulled pork over the tortillas, then top them with diced onion, cilantro, and Don Chilio® crispy fried habanero peppers, or use their fried serranos or fried jalapenos, whichever you prefer!

Serve them along with your favorite hot sauce.

Recipe Notes

Feel free to incorporate other toppings onto your tacos, such as shredded cheese or a bit of tomato, which is how Patty enjoys them, but bear in mind it won’t exactly be a street taco anymore.

But who cares? It’s a taco!

Tacos are awesome no matter how you get them!

A good corn tortilla rocks, but flour tortillas works great, too. I used 4.5 inch tortillas for a truer street taco experience, but larger ones are just fine. Be sure to portion out the meats accordingly.

Pork Burritos, anyone? Oh yeah!

Just don’t forget the Don Chilio® fried peppers! Super important!

Other Topping Ideas

Other great toppings to try include sliced avocado, guacamole, freshly squeezed lime juice, tomatoes, fresh corn, scallions, queso fresco, crumbled, cotija cheese, refried beans, shredded lettuce, sour cream, chopped cilantro, your favorite salsa recipe. So many options!

Try it with this homemade salsa verde recipe. So good!

The Shredded Pork

Pork Shoulder

You can prepare your pork shoulder (aka pork butt) however you like, but I LOVE mine lightly smoked.

My new favorite way to prepare shredded pork that always comes out highly flavorful and super juicy and zesty is to season and smoke a 6-8 pound pork shoulder in the smoker for about 4 hours to get that smoke flavor, then finish it off in the crockpot with a bit of liquid (beer is ideal!) until the meat falls apart easily.

You can add whatever additional seasonings you like at the slow cooker stage, or use just the liquid and season up the pork later on.

However you wish!

Shredded pork freezes nicely, so freeze your leftovers or portion them out for the freezer for easy meals later on.

It's great for making pork nachos, too!

Seasoned Smoked Pulled Pork

Try this recipe - The Juiciest Smoked Pulled Pork Recipe. SO GOOD!

That’s it, my friends! I hope you enjoy your authentic Mexican style street tacos! Better than your local Mexican restaurant!

Make them for dinner tonight!

Patty’s Perspective

I loved these with Don Chilio® fried jalapenos! So great on tacos, and very easy to just pop them on. They’re nice and spicy. I can see these going on just about everything.

Fun Fact

The name, Don Chilio is a name made up by the creators by combining the words “chile and Oil” with oil reversed at the end. CHILIO is also Greek for “one thousand” — as in one thousand ways to use it!
