This Buffalo chicken pizza is spicy and easy to make, topped with homemade Buffalo chicken, sliced jalapenos and two types of cheese. A favorite!
Buffalo Chicken Pizza Recipe
It's pizza night in the Chili Pepper Madness house tonight, my friends! Would you care to join me? How about a slice of pizza?
We're mixing it up a bit this time. Instead of our normal sausage and jalapeno pizza - with lots of garlic, I might add - I'm serving up a flavorful Buffalo Chicken Pizza that I believe you are going to love.
We're basically taking all the wonderful flavors of buffalo chicken wings and turning them into a pizza. Talk about the perfect combination. It doesn't get any better than this!
Let's talk about how we make Buffalo chicken pizza, shall we?
Buffalo Chicken Pizza Ingredients
- FOR THE HOMEMADE PIZZA CRUST
- Instant Yeast
- Water
- Sugar
- Salt
- Vegetable Oil
- All-Purpose Flour
- FOR THE TOPPINGS
- Cooked Chicken. Shredded or chopped. Rotisserie chicken is great for this.
- Buffalo Sauce. Use your favorite store bought brand, or try my my homemade buffalo sauce recipe.
- Jalapenos. For topping and extra heat. Use other peppers if you'd like.
- Cheeses. Use mozzarella cheese and blue cheese crumbles.
- Ranch Dressing. For serving, if desired.
How to Make Buffalo Chicken Pizza - the Recipe Method
FOR THE PIZZA CRUST
The Yeast. In a bowl, combine water with the yeast. Stir until it is dissolved. Let sit for 5-10 minutes, until it becomes foamy.
Make the Dough Ball. Stir in the sugar, salt and oil. Add the flour and hand mix until a dough ball forms. Knead it a couple of minutes. If it feels too sticky, add a bit more flour. You really just don't want it to stick to your fingers.
Let the Pizza Dough Rise. Lightly grease a bowl, add the dough, and roll it around to grease all sides of it. Cover and let rise on your counter about 30 minutes. It should double in size. It will feel somewhat airy and puffy.
Roll the Pizza Dough. Roll the dough into a 12-inch round. Hand form the edges for the outer crust.
Preheat the Oven. Heat oven to 400 degrees F.
FOR THE BUFFALO CHICKEN PIZZA
Spread the Toppings. First, spread out the cooked chopped or shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, and jalapeno peppers over the pizza crust. You can use other peppers if you'd like, such as serrano peppers or habanero peppers for even more heat. Yes!
Add the Cheeses. Evenly spread the mozzarella cheese and blue cheese crumbles over the top.
Bake the Pizza. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown, nice and crispy, and cheese is melted. I use a pizza stone or pizza pan. Baking sheets are great, too.
Cool, Slice and Serve. Cool slightly, then slice the pizza and serve it up with ranch dressing, if desired. I like to sprinkle on a few hot pepper flakes and some fresh chopped parsley. Don't forget the hot sauce!
Boom! Done! Your Buffalo chicken pizza is ready to serve! Looks so delicious, doesn't it? Are you ready for a slice? I know I am.
Recipe Tips & Notes
- The Pizza Dough. I use instant yeast for this recipe, and it works great. You can use your own favorite yeast product, but be sure to check the label for amounts and instructions. You can also use your favorite store bought pizza crust.
- The Buffalo Sauce. You can use any buffalo wing sauce that you prefer, or make your own. Buffalo sauce is basically a Louisiana style hot sauce mixed with melted butter, though I like to include a few other ingredients in my homemade Buffalo sauce. Big flavor, my friends!
- The Chicken. Any cooked chicken will work here. You can use chicken breast, chicken thighs, or a combination, either chopped or shredded. I use this Buffalo Chicken Recipe and either chop or shred it for making pizza. Save yourself some time and grab a rotisserie chicken from the store and shred it yourself. So good!
- The Toppings. I'm keeping it simple with sliced jalapeno peppers. However, feel free to incorporate your own favorite pizza toppings, like bacon crumbles, tomatoes, garlic, other cheeses and more. It's really taste with goat cheese. Whatever you'd like!
That's it, my friends. I hope you enjoy my Buffalo chicken pizza recipe. Let me know if you make it. I'd love to hear how it turned out for you. Keep it spicy!

Interesting interpretation. I've not made yours (I will!) but I've been making something similar for quite a while. One difference is that instead of mixing the sauce with the chicken (or spreading it on the chicken), I spread either a thick wing sauce or spicy BBQ sauce directly on the shell, then add the chicken, hot peppers, and even shredded spicy cheese. Either way, the result is full of flavor and brings the heat! Win-win 🙂

Thanks. You can add the Buffalo sauce first, then the chicken, or vice versa. It really makes no difference to the flavor at all. I have made it both ways, so would assume if you enjoy your version, you'd enjoy this one equally. Best! =)
