Boom! Done! Your spicy bloody mary is ready to serve. How spicy did you make yours? Did you go crazy, my chilihead friends? Let's hear it!

Recipe Tips & Notes
- Make the Bloody Mary Mix ahead of time without the vodka and chill in the refrigerator. The flavor will meld more fully, and you can serve when your guests arrive.
- High-quality ingredients, such as fresh tomato juice and premium vodka will ensure a better cocktail experience.
- Experiment with different hot sauces and chili peppers to find the perfect balance of spicy heat and flavor.
Additions & Variations
- Use pickle-infused vodka for a nice complementary flavor.
- Instead of tomato juice, use Clamato Juice for a Bloody Caesar, aka the Clamdigger.
- Substitute tequila for vodka for a Bloody Maria.
- Consider other spices and additions to make it your own, such as garlic salt, steak sauce, olive juice, bbq sauce, sriracha, paprika (smoked or hot).
Bloody Mary Garnish Ideas
People love to get creative with their bloody mary garnish. Classic options include a celery stalk, pickle spears, olives, and lemon or lime wedges.
However, you can go crazy with anything and everything, like bacon, sausages, shrimp, jalapeno slices, cheese sticks, and so much more.
I've seen insane presentations with burgers resting on top, and once even a whole roasted chicken. Wow!
You can also add salt or other seasonings to the rim of the glass. Pour some onto a small plate, rub a lime around the edges of the glass, and dip to coat the rim.
What's the craziest bloody mary garnish you've ever seen?
Storage
This bloody mary mix will last up to 5 days in the refrigerator in a sealed container. Be careful if you use hot pepper slices, though, as the mix can get hotter the longer you let it steep.
You can also freeze it for 2-3 months.
That's it, my friends. I hope you enjoy this spicy bloody mary recipe. Let me know if you make it. I'd love to hear how it turned out for you, and how you spiced up yours!

Thanks, A.J. Happy New Year!
Vaughn Burckard says
For a change up, try one with Blanco Tequila, preferably Don Julio! Never a fan of vodka, and living in Puerto Vallarta for many years, it made sense to try one.
I've never gone back.
Happy New Year, Mike, and Bloody Maria's for all!!!!!
Mike Hultquist says
I love it!! Thanks, Vaughn!
Bob says
Mike, I have infused vodka with both jalapenos and habaneros. I then make my bloody mary with V8 juice. Season & garnish to taste and BAM! Great.
Mike Hultquist says
Sounds tasty to me, Bob! I'm in! =)
Roger says
great idea Bob, outback QLD Australia here.
Tracy says
Made a beautiful, classic Bloody Mary. I added your spicy list, and it was also delicious.
Then, I added a quarter cup of clam juice and a quarter teaspoon of fish sauce.
Mike H. says
Sounds awesome. Thank you for your feedback, Tracy!
Cindy says
I want to make a Bloody Mary and I am going to use your recipe. It sounds amazing! The only other Bloody Mary I had was at a BBQ place in Branson. It had a chicken wing, smoked sausage and rib on it with olives and celery. Fancy looking, but I really didn't like the flavor of it.
Mike H. says
Let me know how it goes, Cindy, and enjoy!
Janet says
LOVE all the variations! What did you use for the rim of your glass in these pictures?
Mike Hultquist says
Thanks, Janet! We used a tajin-salt mix. So good!
Miska Knezevic says
I,MAKE IT! THANKS!
Mike Hultquist says
Great, Miska!
Danny McDaniel says
your receipt is almost the same as mine only I use V-8, have used tomato juice when out of V-8, and celery salt. Both very good.
Mike Hultquist says
Nice! Thanks for sharing, Dannny!
Jim says
add to any Bloody Mary a shot of beef broth concentrate. I learned this from the late Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson, father of Earth Day. He and I used a British product, Bovril, but the USDA took it off the list of appropriate imports. I now use Knorr’s concentrate.
It add more body to a BM than flavor. P.S. My mother called a Bloody Mary without vodka a Bloody Shame!
Mike Hultquist says
An excellent addition, Jim! Trying that next!

But why on Earth didn't we think of adding pickle juice? Genius!
And as for weird (but wonderful) garnishes I have seen:
a bleu cheese dipped chicken wing,
burnt ends, and
a small stack of very miniature grilled cheese sandwiches!
Hey, I'm all for it!
Mike Hultquist says
Awesome to hear, Jackie! Yes, we do love them. Haha, nice garnishes!!
Terry Roeting says
love the extra spicy recipe
